Lychee flavour quick cook tapioca pearls are traditionally used to make the popular Taiwanese drink, boba, or bubble tea. These sweet tapioca pearls are small, translucent spheres made with tapioca starch (which comes from the cassava root) and have a chewy texture. A lychee flavouring provides these tapioca pearls with fruity, floral notes.
These lychee flavoured tapioca pearls have been pre-cooked and are ready in 5 minutes.
Bubble tea originated in the early 1980s, and tea was shaken over ice to produce frothy bubbles on top. In 1988, bubble tea as we know it was born, when fen yuan – a sweetened tapioca dessert – was added into a cup of iced Assam tea and drunk. Bubble tea can be simply made with black tea leaves, or flavoured with green tea powder, jasmine tea or rose water.
